EU Funded Small Ruminant Shelter Supply Scheme Launched

The European Union through eunite:Halloumi/Hellim PDO are offering a total financial allocation of 970, 000 Euro to implement the “Small Ruminant Shelter Supply Scheme”.


Building on a successful pilot test with two farms, eunite:Halloumi/Hellim PDO has identified the best approach to use such shelters to reduce small rumiants mortality. The knowledge adquired through the two pilot farms has been used to design the specifications for the scheme.


Overall Objectives of the Programme

  • Reduce mortality of lambs during the lambing season.

  • Increase in volumes of milk to be channelled to the milk processing industry.


What does the support include?

  • One small ruminant animal shelter.

  • Set of corresponding pens and plastic flooring (used for housing of lambs and pregnant ewes in the animal shelter).

  • One automatic milk replacement feeder with capacity to feed up to 250 small ruminants.


Who can Apply? Eligibility Criteria

The Applicants must:

  1. Have status of small ruminant dairy farmers/farms registered by the the local body in charge of veterinary services;

  2. Possess at least 80 female small ruminants, as confirmed by the local body in charge of veterinary services;

  3. Be a supplier of cold or chilled small ruminant milk to SÜTEK prior to submission of the application in 2024.

    *Applicants that have previously benefitted from available grants under eunite are excluded from the Small Ruminant Shelters Supply Scheme.


How to Apply?

Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the support of grant experts:

  • Online: download the EOI document from the link and submit filled form and supporting documentation via info@eunite-cyprus.eu.

  • Offline: Book an appointment through our phone +90 548 829 24 23 and visit eunite:Halloumi/Hellim PDO office at Tanzimat Street, 204, Nicosia, Cyprus.


List of Supporting Documentation Required

  1. Registration document issued by the local body in charge of veterinary services;

  2. Confirmation letter, issued by the the local body in charge of veterinary services confirming the Applicant possesses at least 80 female small ruminants;

  3. SÜTEK milk delivery receipt confirming receipt of milk in the preceding 12 months prior to application submission.;

  4. SÜTEK document indicating Total Bacterial count (TBC) test results in the preceding 12 months prior to application submission.

  5. Producers document from Animal Producers and Breeders’ Association;

  6. Signature circular;

  7. Copy of ID for sole proprietors and copy of business registry documents for Limited Companies.
